PLOS Synbio at iGEM 2015!

It’s almost that time of the year again — iGEM 2015 Jamboree is coming up on September 24–28 at the Boston Hynes Convention Center!

Last year, PLOS Synbio Community Editors, Aakriti and David, attended iGEM and brought you coverage on topics, ranging from comments by Randy Rettberg on the iGEM foundation, student and instructor perspectives on iGEM, and more.

This year, we will have guest contributor, Grant Vousden-Dishington, Michelle Dohm, Senior Editor of PLOS ONE, as well as Leah Rodriguez, Strategic Program Manager, representing PLOS Synbio at the Jamboree. They will all be housed at booth number 13 in the expo area and be handing out PLOS T-shirts and USB flash drives preloaded with synthetic biology articles, so make sure to give them a visit!

Not only that, but also this year, PLOS and iGEM will also be announcing a new publishing collaboration, the details of which will be shared on the opening day of the competition and conference. Watch this space for more on this exciting news.

Your Involvement is Key

As always, PLOS Synbio is nothing without the voice of its community. Like last year, the floor is open for posts by competitors, attendees and spectators of the Jamboree. With our new Field Reports platform, posting from iGEM has become more convenient. Simply email us at with your post (idea or draft) and we can take it from there to be published on this site!

Of course, you can always approach our representatitves at the booth with your thoughts and ideas at the Jamboree itself, and they can also advise you on what to do next.

You can also help us cover the event by tweeting with the hashtag #PLOSatiGEM15 or tweet at us with comments and questions about your views on iGEM at @PLOSSynbio. Email us at for more information and to sign up!
