National Fossil Day 2019: Call for Partners, Art Contest

This year, National Fossil Day (NFD) is October 16, 2019, and planning for NFD events is well underway. Though it is still early in the year, many amazing events across the country in the works by the growing list of NFD partners, which could include your organization!

For the uninitiated, National Fossil Day is a U.S. nationwide celebration, with events taking place in and around October, organized through a partnership between the National Park Service (NPS) and a growing list of federal and state agencies, professional organizations, museums and universities, and other groups. Paleontology education programs conducted by various NPS units and partner institutions enable children and the community to better understand the history of life, science of paleontology and other educational objectives through a wide variety of classroom, museum, field trip and outdoor activities.

As we get closer to festivities, PLOS Paleo Community will highlight events and activities related to National Fossil Day. In the meantime, below are opportunities to be aware of early on: NPS is calling for partners who’d like to participate in this year’s festivities, and an opportunity to submit artwork in this year’s Art Contest!

Call for NFD Partners
